Doing pairings

4NCL is an all-play-all tournament for Div 1, 2, 3b and 3k. For Div 4, it is a Swiss System tournament. Pairings for the upper divisions are done automatically.

Pairings for Div 4 should be done as soon as results are checked and have been marked as Finished. Pairings are done as follows:

  • Find the Div 4 SwissManager file (you can find this in the dropbox)

  • Ensure SwissManager is using the 4NCL License (this is required to use the right pairing system)

  • Input results into SwissManager. To do this, use the team result entry buttons. This automatically assumes that points will add up to 6. In the event of a default (or half-point default), you may have to adjust the results of the other team manully, which can be done by checking "Result of Team 2" in the radio box.

  • Generate the pairings, selecting Olympiad mode 2022 as the pairing system

  • Enter the pairings into 4nclresults by going to Round X > Division 4 > Enter Pairings

Handling reserve substitutions

If a team captain would like to use one of their reserves in replacement for a player on their team, they're allowed to do that even after pairings have been published. If they do:

  • Update the pairings on 4nclresults

  • Print out the new pairings (match sheets and wall sheets)

  • Notify the opposing team captain (this can be done in person, or by sending an email which can be found in the team captain details link at the top of this page)

  • Notify the team captain with the reserve player and the reserve player that there is a 30 minute penalty:

10.5 The clock of the reserve shall be adjusted to show the elapsed time subject to a minimum reduction in available time of 30 minutes.
